Fat Injection & Fat Transfer

Conveniently located to serve New Jersey

Lipoinjection (also known as fat injection or fat transfer) in New Jersey is designed to give your face a fuller, more youthful shape by re-injecting redundant fat tissue from elsewhere on your own body. At Ganchi Plastic Surgery in Wayne, fat transfer is performed by board-certified and Ivy League-trained plastic surgeon Dr. Parham A. Ganchi.

Which Areas of the Face Can Be Enhanced With Lipoinjection?

Fat transfer can be used to increase volume and improve definition on various areas of the face, such as the:

  • Cheeks and midface
  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Temples to address hollowing
  • Under-eye area to fill hollow tear troughs
  • Lips to add volume and definition
  • Chin to improve projection and balance facial proportions
  • Jawline to create better definition and minimize jowls
  • Marionette lines (corners of the mouth)

Am I a Candidate For Facial Fat Grafting in NJ?

Ideal candidates for lipoinjection are generally healthy individuals with realistic expectations who have areas of facial volume loss and adequate fat deposits elsewhere on their body to harvest. Additionally, they must be non-smokers and not have any bleeding disorders or uncontrolled medical conditions.

The Fat Injection Procedure

Fat transfer cosmetic surgery is performed at our Wayne, New Jersey, plastic surgery center. At the start of the procedure, local anesthesia is administered to the donor site(s), and sedation anesthesia may also be given.

Precise and gentle liposuction is then performed on the selected donor areas (typically the abdomen or thighs). Once the fat cells have been carefully harvested, they will be purified to ensure that only the healthiest cells are being transferred. Dead and damaged fat cells, along with any other unnecessary materials, will be removed.

Finally, the purified fat cells are precisely and evenly injected into the target areas of the face at various depths. This process can take time, since proper placement leads to longer-lasting results.

Before & Afters

Lipoinjection Aftercare

Once the fat transfer is complete, healing and recovery begin. A degree of swelling and bruising will occur at the donor and transfer sites, but will fade in time. Wearing a compression garment in the donor region can help with this process.

Patients usually take up to two weeks off from work to rest and recover. Normal, non-strenuous household tasks can be performed again about three days after the procedure.

Benefits of Fat Transfer

  • Uses your own natural tissue
  • No risk of allergic reactions
  • Results can last many years
  • Can treat multiple areas in one session

How Much Do Fat Injections Cost?

The price of a fat injection procedure varies based on several factors. The cost may be affected by anesthesia fees, the amount of fat being transferred, and total procedure time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can fat injection be used to enhance other areas of the body?

The benefits of lipoinjection are not just limited to the face. For example, the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is the process of using excess fat tissue to increase the volume of the buttocks.

Will I lose weight in the donor areas?

The amount of fat removed for facial fat transfer is typically too small to create any noticeable weight loss or body contouring effect in the donor areas. While liposuction for body contouring might remove several liters of fat, facial fat transfer usually requires only 50-100 cc of fat, which is not enough to create visible changes in areas like the abdomen, thighs, or other common donor sites.
