Celebrity Tummy Tuck – Who Has Had One?

Actresses and Celebrities Who Have Had a Celebrity Tummy Tuck

Not as well known as Botox injections, facelifts, and breast enhancements, celebrity tummy tuck remains a popular plastic surgery procedure for celebrities as well as those less in the public eye.

Many actresses shy away from admitting to getting a celebrity tummy tuck, while others exhibit no reluctance about sharing their experience.

One such fan of plastic surgery is Kerry Katona, English singer and media personality. After the birth of her last child, the mother of four received a celebrity tummy tuck to get back her flat stomach.

“No matter how much weight I lost, I couldn’t get rid of a pocket of skin that hung like a kangaroo pouch!” said Kerry. Soon after her surgery, Kerry Katona could be seen in a white bikini, enjoying the sun and waters of Majorca. Her newly tucked tummy did indeed look contoured and flat.

Another celebrity with no qualms about discussing her recent celebrity tummy tuck is American journalist Dayna Devon. Dayna, mother of two lovely children, Emma Reese and Cole Brent, just couldn’t take off all the weight and return her abdomen to its pre-pregnancy form. She maintained a great diet losing 24 pounds and did all the proper exercise, but the belly flab simply wouldn’t budge.

Dayna Devon loves her after-surgery body and has no regrets about her decision. She explains that when you get pregnant, many different things happen to your body and most of them you cannot do anything about. But the effect pregnancy and childbirth had on her abdomen was something she could get fixed. “All I have to do is look at my new waistline and I realize it was worth it! I’m so happy I did it.”

Reality star, Kim Zolciak, has always been open about her love for plastic surgery. The mom of six showed off her tiny waist in an Instagram selfie (see photo). She posed for the photo in a black one-piece swimsuit with high sides to show off her hips and legs. Now she retains her post-surgery body with a regimen that includes a combo of diet and exercise.

Celebrity Plastic Surgery

Other celebrities who talk about undergoing plastic surgery to regain their pre-baby bodies are theater and television actress Patricia Heaton and actress-singer, Shar Jackson.

Patricia Heaton took care of the adverse effects of childbirth by having a celebrity tummy tuck and breast reduction. This becomes quite evident when you look at her recent pictures.

Shar Jackson, the mother of Kevin Federline’s two older children, had a celebrity tummy tuck and breast lift to get her post-childbirth body back in shape. She’s given birth to four children, and the pregnancies had taken their toll on her body.

Many other actresses and other celebrities have enjoyed the benefits of receiving a celebrity tummy tuck, sometimes to get back the bodies they had before bearing children and sometimes just to tighten up this part of their body when it failed to respond to normal diet and exercise.

Yes, actresses do get celebrity tummy tucks, but what about women who do not spend their lives in the spotlight? What about real people tummy tucks?

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) over 127,633tummy tucks (abdominoplasties) were performed in 2016, making this the 5th most requested cosmetic surgical procedure. (In order of popularity the top four were; breast augmentation, liposuction, eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty)

Some of the tummy tucks were performed as a singular surgery while others were requested as part of the popular “mommy makeover” procedure.

Whether you’re a mom who has finished having children and looking for the return of her pre-childbearing body or someone whose abdominal area simply won’t respond in the way you would like to your diet and exercise routine, a tummy tuck could be the answer you’re looking for. Sometimes, no matter how much exercise you do or what diet extremes you go to, the abdominal muscles just refuse to tighten and the excess fat and skin will not disappear.

The most common reasons women may be challenged by stubborn excess weight and a loose or sagging abdominal region are:

  • Having had one or more pregnancies
  • The natural effects of aging
  • Heredity
  • Previous surgeries in the abdominal region
  • Major weight fluctuations

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)?

An individual who has already tried to reduce the size of his or her tummy with diet and exercise, who is in good health, and whose weight has stabilized is a great candidate for a tummy tuck. For a woman, an abdominoplasty is best considered after her last pregnancy though some exceptions do exist.

The Tummy Tuck Procedure

A tummy tuck can be customized to fit the unique needs of each patient, depending on the amount of change needed and desired. A tummy tuck is done under general anesthetic or sedation with local anesthetic, usually on an outpatient basis. The surgery takes about two to four hours.

When an individual has a small amount of stubborn belly flab located below the navel, this “pouch” of skin and fat can be removed with a mini tummy tuck. This surgery only tightens the skin below the belly button. The rest of the abdomen and even the waistline can be treated with liposuction at the same time. Most assume that a mini tummy tuck has a smaller incision and therefore a smaller scar. This is not necessarily true. The length of the scar depends on how much loose skin the patient has to be removed.

The procedure normally used for patients with a sizable amount of loose skin and flab both above and below the belly button and stretched abdominal muscles is the standard or traditional abdominoplasty. This procedure works extremely well for people who have lost a great deal of weight and for women who have excess fat and weak abdominal muscles due to one or more pregnancies.

During the surgery not only does the plastic surgeon remove excess skin and fat, but he tightens the abdominal muscles as well. Liposuction may also be used to help with fat removal. Traditional abdominoplasty frequently involves the removal of a large portion of skin causing the surgeon to reposition the belly button. This is done as one of the last steps of the procedure.

The most extensive type of tummy tuck is the extended abdominoplasty. This procedure is recommended when the patient has a good deal of loose, sagging skin in the abdominal area as well as on the sides of the lower back and the hips. During this procedure, the plastic surgeon may also use liposuction to remove excess fat cells. He will tighten muscles in the abdomen and remove any unnecessary loose skin in the abdomen, hips and even the lower back. As with the standard or traditional tummy tuck, the belly button is repositioned to align with the patient’s new body shape.

Recovering from a Tummy Tuck

Recovery from an abdominoplasty usually takes from two to six weeks. The recovery from an extended abdominoplasty takes longer than that from a standard or mini tummy tuck. The patient will normally be able to drive in one to two weeks and will be back at non-physically stressful activities in one to three weeks. The patient should not lift more than 20 pounds or engage in strenuous exercise for six to eight weeks following surgery.

Results of a Tummy Tuck

Our patients love the results they get from a tummy tuck. The abdomen is flatter and more toned and excess skin and fat are no longer a problem. Most can’t wait to get back into a swimsuit.

If you’re thinking a tummy tuck may be right for you, give a call and schedule an appointment.
