From celebrity plastic surgery and celebrity nose jobs to rhinoplasty procedures done on members of the general public, people want to know how to make a nose smaller and correct imperfections both large and small.

With over 221,000 nose jobs performed last year, rhinoplasty is second only to breast augmentation as the most sought after plastic surgery procedure in the United States.

The results of celebrity plastic surgery can be seen every night on television and in movie theaters. Celebrity nose jobs, breast augmentation, facelifts and other procedures are spoken of freely and discussed in magazines and interviews. Enhancing looks and retaining a youthful appearance is an important part of the entertainment industry.

Luckily, procedures such as nose jobs are not only available to the rich and famous. Men, women, and teenagers around the country are improving their lives with rhinoplasty surgery.

Although rhinoplasty is frequently sought to make nose smaller, it is used for many other situations, both medical and cosmetic.

Some of the common reasons rhinoplasty is performed are:

Correction of a Deviated Septum

The septum is the wall between the left and right sides of the nose. When this structure is significantly off center or crooked it is known as a deviated septum. Having a deviated septum can cause congestion and difficulty breathing.

A plastic surgeon is able to correct the problem by adjusting the nasal breathing passages, thereby offering much relief to the patient.

Increasing Facial Balance and Symmetry

No individual’s face is perfectly symmetrical. However, having a balance of features in one’s face gives an attractive appearance. A nose should not be too large or too small to fit with the rest of the face and the individual parts of the nose should be in balance with each other.

Nostrils that are too wide, large or upturned can be corrected with a rhinoplasty procedure.

The bridge of the nose (nose bone) can be too wide, too long or contain unattractive dents, humps or bumps, all of which can be corrected by a qualified and board certified plastic surgeon.

A nasal tip that is drooping, enlarged, upturned, hooked or rounded and bulbous can distract from an otherwise attractive face. This too can be swiftly corrected with rhinoplasty.

Make nose smaller and better proportioned

Many people, through heredity, have noses that are too large for their faces. This can include the width of the nostrils, the tip of the nose, the actual nose bone or the overall size of the nose in proportion to the rest of the individual’s face. Also, noses tend to appear larger as we age, so reducing the size of this feature can offer a more youthful appearance (smaller nose = younger face).

Rhinoplasty surgery is normally done on an outpatient basis with either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Which of these is chosen will be something to go over with the doctor during your consultation. The length of time you will be in surgery is dependent on the amount of work to be done and the intricacy of the surgery.

It is usually recommended that the patient take a week off from work or school while the initial healing occurs and the nasal cast is in place. Unlike typical rhinoplasty surgeons, Dr. Ganchi is very delicate in his technique and takes the time to achieve the best rhinoplasty result. Normally, rhinoplasty patients complain of pain and much bruising and swelling of their faces after surgery. Dr. Ganchi’s patients are pleasantly surprised to find that they have no pain and minimal, if any, bruising and swelling! Once the cast is removed, some results will be visible immediately. Over the next few weeks and months, the small amount of swelling will subside and patients will be able to see and admire the full results of their procedure.

At Ganchi Plastic Surgery we are pleased to have performed many rhinoplasty procedures. From celebrity nose jobs such as we performed for our good friend and Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ) TV star Kathy Wakile, to those performed on other wonderful patients, we take pride in creating a nose that is natural in beauty and in balance with the rest of the face.

When you come in for a consultation, Dr. Ganchi will be happy to show you nose job before and after pictures so you can see what your results are likely to look like. The Vectra 3D photography system will be used to simulate and plan your rhinoplasty.
